RSS reader

Annoyed that I spent $$$ paying for Reeder 5 and the iCloud syncing between Mac and iOS simply doesn’t work. Does anyone know of a good RSS/news reader app that allows for iCloud syncing and that doesn’t cost a leg and an arm in subscription fees?

In other news… I just bought an 11” iPad Pro because I have fantasies of using it to read (with Kindle and Libby), to write all my French language notes and learn how to urban-sketch (the Apple Pencil is very attractive to me), and use it as a separate screen for when I want to type up notes from Youtube videos or online courses. And also because I’m an incorrigible Apple (hardware) fangirl.

NetNewsWire (https://netnewswire.com) has iCloud sync, iOS version with iCloud sync is available on TestFight and should be released soon. It’s free.

I love my iPad Pro 11″ + Apple Pencil too! So portable, perfect for note-taking and sketching and reading (<3 libby)! Libby has SO MANY magazines as well!! I am so blown away at the variety.

Version 6 for Mac already syncs via iCloud so you can already sync between Macs. Version 6 for iOS is currently in public beta (I’m testing it right now) and has iCloud sync as well. If you want to try it before gets released you can download TestFlight and sign up for the beta from iPhone/iPad. https://netnewswire.com/test-ios.

Hope this helps, have a nice day.

I also paid for Reeder 5 and I absolutely love it. It is by far the app I spend most time in when I’m using my iPad.

The only issue is that there is no central server downloading new articles for me, so it may take a while for Reeder to check all the feeds (especially when you subscribe to many feeds). my solution to this issue is to leave Reeder running on my computer, so that whenever I want to read from my iPad, all new articles are already there.

I’m a bit late to this discussion but I thought I’d share that after trying most of the popular RSS apps for Mac I settled on [Betamagic’s – News Explorer](https://betamagic.nl/products/newsexplorer.html).

News Explorer is not always included in the list of the most popular options but it is a gem. The syncing is flawless, and the feature list is as complete as anything out there.

I first got a license directly from Betamagic but now use the version bundled with [SetApp](https://setapp.com).

I love it.
